What is the value of an incorrectly minted 1975 Canadian 5 cent coin?

Question by temporos: What is the value of an incorrectly minted 1975 Canadian 5 cent coin?
I received a 5 cent 1975 Canadian coin as change. The coin has a minting flaw, such that the obverse and reverse are not properly aligned (the reverse is crooked by about 15 degrees). The reverse side also has a much higher-than-normal relief, suggesting an unintentional, high-pressure strike. Is this a known or rare flaw, and what are the auction and street values of the coin?

A 15 degrees rotation is not very much so little value is added. Also having a higher pressure strike does not add much value either. Both things are quite common and you might get an offer for $ 1-$ 2 for it. The errors are known and are quite common.

Are 1922 high relief peace dollars actually thicker?

Question by schmopper25: Are 1922 high relief peace dollars actually thicker?
I know the high relief matte proof high relief peace dollars have bolder detail, but my aunt has a 1922 peace that she just bought that she says is thicker than other 1922 peace dollars. The circulation strike peace dollar has a thickness of 2mm, but she says that this particular coin is noticeably taller than another when placed on a table, by at least 2 mm. Does anyone know if any of the 1922 high reliefs were actually taller than the normal reliefs? Thanks in advance.....
Sorry, not 2 mm, about 0.2 mm..... I guess that's kind of important.....

First of all not all silver dollar planchets are the same. Some were a little smaller than others and some were a little thicker than others. A modern day example is some of the state quarters from Denver mint, they are a little thicker than the ones of the same state from the Philly mint. The key to the 1922 high refief is they are matte proofs and stick out as such usually. There were 35,401 struck but people forget most were melted and there are very few that remain. No new ones have showed up in a good many years. I think that it is just a normal 1922 on a little thicker planchet, for the high relief just gave the impression the planchet was thicker. hope this helps. Check the weight it should be 26.73 grams.
