You're paying mainly for the gold. Get the 2009 now, or wait for the price on the 2010 to drop, because there's always a price premium on the new releases.

what is the value of this coin...it says "1910 S" on it and is certainly circulated but in excellent condition

A lot. That coin has nearly an ounce of gold in it.

As a collectable item, it is probably worth well over a thousand dollars. Exact condition determines value. Check out Ebay or coin auction sites.
